Cowiche Crossing

Thoughtful ownership.
Long-term perspective.

Cowiche Crossing was founded by Phil Christenson to acquire and build upon an established business with strong foundations, great people, and enduring potential.

Approach

Build on what works.

Great businesses are built over years—often decades—through the hard work of their owners and employees, strong relationships with customers, and thousands of decisions that collectively create something valuable.Taking ownership of a successful business comes with a responsibility to understand and respect what has already been built.

01

Curiosity Before Certainty

Listen to the people closest to the business—employees, customers, and partners—and understand why things work the way they do before deciding they need to change.

Good leadership doesn't begin with having all the answers. It begins with asking the right questions.

02

Improve, Don't Disrupt

Change can create tremendous value. Change for its own sake rarely does.

Preserve what makes the business successful while looking for opportunities to build upon those strengths—through growth, simpler processes, stronger customer experiences, new capabilities, or thoughtful use of technology.

03

Build for the Long Term

Invest in people and capabilities, protect strong customer relationships, and make financially responsible decisions—even when the better long-term choice takes longer to pay off.

The goal is simple: build on what already works and leave the business stronger than we found it.

Criteria

What we're looking for.

Cowiche Crossing is looking to acquire an established, profitable business with a strong foundation and the potential to thrive for many years to come. We're less focused on a particular industry than on the qualities of the business itself. We're especially interested in companies with:

Durable demand

Products or services that solve real, ongoing customer needs and are unlikely to disappear because of a passing trend or technological shift.

Healthy, consistent economics

A demonstrated history of profitability and cash generation, rather than a business dependent on an aggressive future growth story.

Strong customer relationships

Loyal customers, repeat or recurring business, and a reputation earned through consistently delivering value.

A capable team

Employees and leaders who understand the business, have contributed to its success, and can play an important role in its next chapter.

Room to build

Opportunities to build upon existing strengths through continued growth, operational improvements, stronger customer experiences, or thoughtful use of technology. We're open to a range of industries and business models. What matters most is finding a fundamentally strong business with a foundation worth preserving and opportunities to build upon what has already made it successful.Cowiche Crossing is focused on established small to mid-sized businesses and is prepared to provide the required equity and pursue acquisition financing for the right opportunity.

About

About Phil

Phil Christenson is the founder of Cowiche Crossing and a business leader with more than 25 years of experience building products and businesses, leading teams, managing P&Ls, and navigating change.Phil spent nearly 12 years at Expedia Group, most recently in senior product leadership roles spanning travel marketplaces, technology platforms, and artificial intelligence. Throughout his career, he has led large teams, held significant business and P&L responsibility, built new products and capabilities from the ground up, and helped established organizations evolve through periods of significant market and technological change. After years of building within larger organizations, Phil founded Cowiche Crossing to take a longer-term perspective: to become an owner, work closely with a strong existing team, and have a direct stake in building upon the success of a business over many years. His experience has reinforced the leadership philosophy behind Cowiche Crossing: understand before changing, respect the people who know the business best, focus on the opportunities that matter, and build for the long term.

Story

Why Cowiche Crossing?

Cowiche is a small community in central Washington where Phil grew up and where his family put down roots generations ago.The name is a reminder of where he came from, while Crossing reflects what Cowiche Crossing is about: helping an established business move thoughtfully from one chapter of ownership to the next. It's a transition that deserves respect for what came before and optimism about what can come next.
